A Visit from Family

Janice and John and kids were able to stop on their way to and from a family wedding.  We played at the park.

Visited the model trains at Union Station, then had our dinner delivered by train at Fritz's.

Of course we needed a photo by the Lego people!

Tour of Adam-ondi-Ahman and Far West

A couple of times per year the young sister missionaries get to spend a day touring the church historical sites of Adam-ondi-Ahman and Far West.  We were able to tag along recently.
We drove through many closed gates.  Toby helped with the gates.

Her we are at the Far West monument.  That's the back of me with the dark red sweater.

It was a fun and long day.

A Few Other Things

We attended a full performance of "The Messiah" at the Stone Church.  The music and the church were fantastic!

We used our free Zoo pass one day that the Archives were closed.

These birds were all over us when we offered bird seed.

The tv show Ninja Warrior was filmed at Union Station one week.  We monitored the set being built on our lunchtime walks.  Union station is next door to the Archives where we work.

Friends Visit

In March we had old friends from Sammamish come and stay with us for a few days.  We drove to Far West, the Amish village of Jamesport, and Adam-ondi-Ahman.

Another day we saw the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and had to go for barbecue at the famous Joe's KC.  The Z-man was yum! We

We sure enjoyed their visit!

Thanksgiving 2016

Last Thanksgiving we were happy to have Michelle and Rhett visit.  Andre' had to work due to a new job.☹️
Can I blame not blogging earlier on my injuries soon after Thanksgiving?
Here are some pics of a few of our activities.

We enjoyed having them!

Misery in Missouri

A week before Christmas we had a snow and ice storm that cancelled our ward Christmas party, church on Sunday and many other things in the area.   Cabin fever struck and we decided to bundle up and go for a walk.  This is just down the block from our apartment.

It didn't look too threatening, but on the way back home I fell on the ice.  My wrist was obviously broken and my cheek was numb ( and broken).  We had a trip to the emergency room  on Saturday, then surgeries on Wednesday and Friday for wrist and cheek repair.  Toby, my personal nurse, took great care of me.

After a couple weeks, the splints were removed and I was fitted with a removable brace and sent to occupational therapy 3 times per week.  Here is "the claw" just after the splints were removed, all leathery and bruised and stiff.

Therapy is now complete and I have returned to normal activities.  I certainly learned many things from my injuries and am grateful for healing and a wonderful husband to help me through all of it.
